Sheffield swimmer takes part in World Masters Swimming Championships at San Francisco, USA
Lynne Dawson, a member of Chapeltown amateur swimming club, recently returned from
the 11th Fina World Masters Championships,
held in the
Lynne, who lectures at Sheffield Hallam University, was understandably delighted to have made the qualifying times to attend the Masters Championships which were organised by the world swimming governing body, FINA, “It was a tremendous experience, swimming and socialising with competitors from around the world, whilst representing the UK, Sheffield, and Chapeltown Swimming club. I thoroughly enjoyed the event and was pleased with my overall performance.”
Lynne was the first swimmer from Chapeltown Swimming Club to attend the World Masters and club Coach Bob Grayson was proud of her achievements, “Lynne’s a dedicated swimmer, training 3 evenings per week at the club, we’re all delighted to see her at such a prestigious world event, and proud of her achievements; she’s set a great example to the rest of the club members.”
Lynne’s already looking forward to the
next World Masters Championships, “It’s hard work but a great way to see the
world; the next championships in 2008 will be held in

Lynne Dawson in her World Masters t-shirt and with her championship certificates.
