Ashley Swims Fit for 100 mile award!

Chapeltown Amateur Swimming club swimmer Ashley Fearn collected his commemorative paperweight and certificate from the Club coach earlier this week after accumulating 100 miles in the ASA Swim Fit Award. Ashley, aged 11, who was recommended to join the club following swimming lessons at Chapeltown Baths, the home pool of the club, accumulated the miles through the weekly training sessions. Through the Swim Fit scheme Ashley, and other Chapeltown club swimmers, have already received certificates and badges at milestones such as 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and so on; ultimately the swimmers can continue right up to 5000 miles!

Club coach, Robert Grayson, was delighted to hand Ashley his award, “it takes a lot of commitment and dedication to train week in week out and accumulate this sort of mileage, Ashley fully deserves his award and I’m sure he’ll reap the rewards in the up and coming swimming competitions,” he said.

After receiving his award, Ashley started his next training session and accumulated more distance toward the next award at 150 miles.
