Twin town German trip for Chapeltown swimming club

Swimmers at Chapeltown Amateur Swimming Club have been invited to Sheffield’s twin city Bochum in Germany to training with and compete against the cities clubs. The invitation was made by Bochum’s swimming clubs who are keen cement relationships between the two twinned cities and give both sets of swimmers the chance to experience different styles of swim training and Bochum local culture and attractions.

Chapeltown chairman Tom Barlow, pictured with Ryan Dunn who’s receiving his 100 mile swim fit award, was delighted by the invite, “it’s a great opportunity for the swimmers both at a personal and a sports level; judging on our previous swim training camp to Spain I’m sure we’ll have plenty of interest in the trip and will gain significant benefits from the experience.”

Bochum, which has been twinned with Sheffield since 1950, has several swimming clubs and an industrial history similar to that of the Sheffield area.

The trip will be discussed at the next club committee meeting later this month and will be followed up by a visit from representatives from Bochum who have agreed to fly over to discuss the arrangements.
