Chapeltown swimmer bids farewell to team as she emigrates to Canada

Local swimmer, Chloe Whitham said a tearful farewell to her friends and team mates at Chapeltown Amateur Swimming club on Friday 12th October as she got ready to emigrate to Canada the following day. Chloe, aged 11, has been swimming for Chapeltown club for sometime, hopes to continue her swimming in Alberta, Canada once she’s settled in to her new home.

Club Chairman Tom Barlow gave Chloe (in centre of the picture) a gift, a special bear complete with swimming costume and goggles, on behalf of everyone at the club; unusually Chloe was also allowed to keep her Chapeltown club tracksuit top as a memento.

“We’ll all miss Chloe, she’s made lots of friends at the club and worked hard in training and competitions,” Tom said.

Chapeltown club is open to swimmers age 8+ and competes in the Barnsley Minor League, regional galas as far as Matlock, and open invitation galas.
