Chapeltown swimmers’ DART to personal bests

Thirteen Swimmers from Chapeltown Amateur Swimming Club, recently competed in the Doncaster Dartes B-Grade swimming competition and attained an impressive total of 25 personal bests and 4 Yorkshire regional times. The team, which finished 5th out of the 23 swimming clubs despite only having 13 of its 80+ swimmers available for the competition.

In addition to the personal best time, swimmers Jo-Ella Allendar (age 11) and Daniel Bates (age 15) received Top Boy and Top Girl awards in their age groups, with Billy Chapman (age 9) narrowly missing out on Top Girl for her age group, after getting equal points with another swimmer she was awarded second place on a gold medal count. Lewis Haddon (age 11) came away with two “speeding tickets” for going too fast in his races and exceeding the race entry cut off time.

“It was an excellent performance by all 13 swimmers,” commented Chapeltown’s club Coach Bob Grayson, “25 PBs and 4 Yorkshire Times reflects the effort of the swimmers on the day and their commitment to regular training,” he added.

The annual Dartes 'B' grade open meet is a very popular event for teams throughout the Yorkshire region. It regularly attracts well in excess of 1000 entries.

Chapeltown club is hoping for even better results in future competitions following the installation of several new technology items, including a projector system for the training schedules and both above and under water camera systems for technique analysis.
