Chapeltown regains LJ Timber trophy at swimming
competition
Chapeltown Amateur Swimming Club
successfully regained the LJ Timber trophy at its recent home gala competition
against
Tom Barlow, chairman of the club and pictured
with the two swimmers, commented, “It was obviously a big disappointment for
the club to lose the trophy to Sheffield City last year at our home gala, so
everyone was up for putting maximum effort to win it back this year and I’m
delighted for all the swimmers that it’s now back in our trophy cabinet.”
The performance is yet more evidence that
the new technology, along with the development of a dedicated Gym for the
swimmers, is paying dividends for the club which was formed in 1961. The projector
and laptop technology, partially funded by a grant from Local Network Fund and
South Yorkshire Community Foundation, are now in use at the club’s training
sessions both to deliver the training schedule with an automatic countdown
clock for each section, and also to provide above and below water video
analysis of swimming technique.
