New trophy up for grabs at Chapeltown Swimming Club

Chapeltown Amateur Swimming Club, which provides competitive swimming for children from Sheffield, Rotherham, and Barnsley aged 8 upwards, are introducing a new trophy to reward participation in regional swimming competitions. The “Most Competitive Swimmer” trophy, pictured with Tom Barlow (Club Chairman), and Christine Fearn (Competition Secretary), will be given to the swimmer who accumulates the most points through attending swimming competitions and for their finishing position in the races.

Chapeltown already give out over 100 trophies and awards at their annual Presentation Evening for a variety of achievements throughout the year, however, Tom Barlow felt that a further trophy specifically for competitive swimming would both encourage and reward swimmers taking part in the regular galas. “Virtually all our swimmers are either chosen to represent the club in league galas or volunteer to compete in open galas and we wanted a way to reflect the time and effort they put into attending galas,” he commented.

The league table of swimmers points will be updated after each gala and available both on the clubs extensive web site (www.chapeltownasc.org) and the club’s notice board at Chapeltown Baths.

Chapeltown club swim in the Barnsley Minor League, regional galas as far as Matlock, and open competition galas. For further details on the club visit the web site (www.chapeltownasc.org), call in at Chapeltown Baths on a Thursday evening between 7.30pm and 9.30pm and ask for or Robert Grayson (tel: 0114 2885181) or Tom Barlow (tel: 0114 2451239).
