PRESS RELEASE
Chapeltown swimmers leave for sunny swim training
camp in Spain
A selection of the top swimmers
from Chapeltown Amateur Swimming Club have flown out to Spain for a week long
training camp to help boost their performance ahead of up and coming swimming
competitions. The twenty swimmers from the Senior, Gold, Silver and Bronze
squads left Chapeltown Baths on Sunday 27th May to travel to the Spanish
resort of Estartit where they’ll train twice a day plus exercise training in
between.
The club sees the training camp as
a great way to mix focussed training with a chance for swimmers to interact
socially and enhance team morals. “Whilst we take our swimming very seriously,
and the emphasis of the trip is very much on the training, we’re also a very
social club with lots of events outside swimming for both parents and swimmers
alike. We’re looking forward to not only giving the swimmers more focussed
training during the camp but also having some fun through the sports games we
have planned,” commented Steve Swinburn, Vice Chairman of the Club.
The swimmers are accompanied by
parents and guardians each of which are assigned to a group of swimmers. None
of the swimmers will be allowed off site during the training camp other than on
arranged excursions.
This is the first swim training
camp the club has arranged for several years and it will be looking carefully
at each swimmer’s times after the camp to ensure there has been a marked
improvement. If the trip goes well the club will be looking at making this a
more regular, possibly annual event.
Chapeltown club is open to swimmers
age 8+ and completes in the Barnsley Minor League, regional galas as far as
Matlock, and open invitation galas. For further details on the club visit the
