PRESS RELEASE
Chapeltown swimmers have 20/20 swim fitness!
Daniel Fitzgerald, age 9, and
Francis Abell, age 10, have become the first two swimmers at Chapeltown Amateur
Swimming Club to achieve their 20 miles ASA Swim Fit certificates. Under the
Swim Fit Scheme each swimmer who wants to take part will be issued with a
special ASA Record Card where they record the miles swam under each session,
achieving badges, certificates, and lapel pins for key miles stones ranging
from 1 mile to right up to 5000 miles.
Chapeltown’s Coach Robert Grayson
handed Francis and Daniel their certificates at one of the Club’s weekly
training sessions, “It’s fantastic to be able to continually reward the
swimmers for their commitment and dedication to training. We’re big on the
social aspects of the club but obviously training is a critical part of
competing and the Swim Fit award scheme
is a great way to reflect this in addition to the trophies they can win at
regular local galas.” he commented.
Daniel and Francis have already
started accumulating further miles toward their next milestone and are looking
toward the 100 mile award which includes a special commemorative paperweight
containing a specially struck ASA gold medal.
Chapeltown club swim in the
Barnsley Minor League, regional galas as far as Matlock, and open competition
galas. For further details on the club visit the web site
(www.chapeltownasc.org), call in at Chapeltown Baths on a Thursday evening
between 7.30pm and 9.30pm and ask for or Robert Grayson (tel: 0114 2885181) or
