Bob Grayson's Report on Swim Therapy

On Thursday 27th of April 2006, Vanessa and I had the opportunity of travelling down to Leicester to a company called Swim Therapy, where we met a gentleman called Nigel Kobe.

Vanessa wants to improve her breaststroke - which you may say, apart from stretching her to 6 feet plus putting a few more pounds on, what other advice can this ex national champion in breaststroke give her?

We went into his laboratory with an open mind but didn't really expect to leave with too many tips. We wondered what a 15' x 10' pool with constant adjustable flow, a camera at each and every possible angle and a recording system (which would look well in any household) would have to offer.

From recording her after the warm up to the showing her the final result, I was amazed. Looking from the poolside all you see is a 2 dimensional image, with cameras it's an all new ball game.

He altered her head position, reach, kick, leg width and timing. A totally different stoke!

I was very impressed and did pick up lots of tips which I will be glad to pass on to other poolside helpers and parents if required.

It is up to Vanessa to take this advice on board and try to correct her stroke accordingly.

Anyone interested may first like to see if Vanessa's times improve over the next 3 to 4 months.

Cost is £35 for 30 minutes plus a CD at £7.00
